FISHINGCome off the beaten track and fish the scenic rivers and Lakes in the Lake Monowai area. Ideal natural conditions ensure trout flourish, grow and put up a healthy fight. Anglers will be taken to a variety of unique locations ideally suited to the weather and fishing conditions. Both Brown’s and Rainbow’s are readily caught at all locations. Double digit fish are a possibility and challenging to catch. See the monster 31lb Brown on the home page! That was taken from the Waiau River. All the fish in the area are naturally grown - there are no fish hatcheries on any of the rivers or lakes fished.
We enjoy catering an all inclusive fishing package to suit the individual. We provide a variety of fly or spinning rod and reels. Wet and dry flies and/or lures are provided that are proven to catch fish in each location. Some waders available in common sizes if required. Prices
You will need a trout fishing license (whole season or 24 hour) which can be brought from sports shops or can be purchased online at www.fishandgame.org.nz with a credit card (you can do this at our location). When our boat has completed its overhaul (see Water Taxi) it will be available for use in fishing. You can fish in Lake Monowai year round and use it for trolling/fly fishing/jigging or
spinning in specific locations.
